Type 1 Diabetes

Conference notes that the care and educational aspects of Type 1 Diabetes requires further attention.

Conference notes the warning from Diabetes Scotland that there are many people disengaging with NHS services relating to Type 1 Diabetes which seek to monitor and assist people who have developed or who are at risk of developing Type 1 Diabetes; believes that steps must be taken to prevent people from disengaging with those services.

Conference believes that further steps must be taken to build an improved educational resource for Type 1 Diabetes – as a result of one campaign, the 4Ts, less people are getting admitted to hospital with diabetic ketoacidosis.

Conference therefore calls on the Scottish Government to take further steps to ensure sufferers and potential sufferers: engage with NHS services relating to Type 1 Diabetes; and ensure greater educational resources are available.'
