Conference commends the work of New Zealand government for their introduction of a school leavers toolkit aimed at equipping young people with practical skills for life including support with driving lessons, employability skills and how to exercise their democratic and social rights.
Conference notes that a similar initiative, if introduced in Scotland, would have huge benefits for Scottish school leavers so that they too can learn the vital life skills necessary to be effective in their personal lives, in their local communities and in their career.
Conference calls on the Scottish Government to introduce a similar policy to invest in young people and ensure that regardless of background all school leavers will have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and play their full part in society.
