Growing Scotland’s Food Independency Proposal
Conference recognises the importance of access to healthy and affordable food without causing environmental damage. Conference understands as climate change and crop yield fluctuations continue to destabilize the global agricultural industry, it has become increasingly important to find new ways to ensure food security.
Conference notes that Scotland, with its vast potential for renewable energy and abundance of fresh, clean spring water, is perfectly positioned to lead this green revolution; further notes that by adopting glasshouses and vertical farming, Scotland can reduce its dependence on imported food, stimulate economic growth, and contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.
Conference calls on the Scottish Government to support Glasshouses and vertical farms as key solutions, with their ability to grow fruits and vegetables year-round, independent of weather and seasons.
