Establish a national strategy on ending intimate and sexual violence against men and boys

Conference acknowledges that men can be victims of sexual and intimate violence, perpetrated by both men and women.

Conference notes that currently male intimate and sexual violence is incorporated under the overarching cross-government policy: the “strategy on ending violence against women and girls”

Conference understands that as a result, often men’s experiences are not currently adequately represented or addressed in terms of strategy or service provision and that labelling all sexual violence as a ‘violence against women and girls’ crime reaffirms the myth of Male invulnerability by concealing the experience of Male survivors.

Conference calls for the Scottish Government to investigate establishing a national “ending intimate violence against men and boys strategy” to sit parallel to the existing VAWG strategy.
